Ceramic materials laboratory facilities are
roughly divided into two categories: Processing and Characterization.
The central topic guiding research within the laboratory is
implied by its name, the processing and characteristics of ceramic materials.
The following text gives a virtual tour of
our facilities, highlighting the equipment and the respective applications of
each.
1. Synthesis Laboratory (Sol-Gel)
CIMAV, Mexico acrylamide polimerization route; colloidal gel and hydrolisis route; Pechini method.
Thermal Analysis: Differential Thermal Analysis, Differential Scanning Calorimeter and Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer (DTA, DSC and TGA)
2. Structure: X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Rietveld method using FullProf software
3. Morphology and chemical composition: Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive of X-ray and Transmission Electron Microscopy (SEM, EDX and TEM).
Morphology analysis using Image J software.
4. Morphology Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
5. Structure (Uv-vis, Raman and FT-IR spectroscopies)
6. Electronic structure and chemical composition, X-ray Photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)
7. Magnetic properties: Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM and Inductance spectroscopy)
